Context

Phased summer works to an occupied primary school required careful coordination.

What Went Well

• Early engagement with school leadership
• Phasing plan aligned with term dates
• Contractor pre-start meeting covered safeguarding

What Could Improve

• Allow more float between phases (2 weeks minimum)
• DBS checks for all site personnel should be confirmed 4 weeks before, not 2
• Temporary signage and wayfinding needs its own budget line

Recommendations

• For any education project, start safeguarding planning at Stage 2
• Include phasing as a design risk item from Stage 3
